Mr. Harrell’s practice involves all aspects of commercial real estate law, including acquisition, development, financing, leasing and disposition matters, on behalf of institutional investors, developers, lenders, landlords, tenants, brokers, local governments, general contractors and architects. The projects for which Mr. Harrell provides representation have included office and industrial buildings and complexes, retail shopping centers, hospitals and specialty medical buildings, multi-family apartment and condominium projects, hotel and restaurant properties, marina developments, telecommunication and co-location facilities, agricultural land, subsurface properties and prestigious residential estates. Mr. Harrell also represents national and regional financial institutions in connection with their asset based lending to manufacturing, retail, hospitality, energy, aircraft and logistics companies.
Relevant Experience:
Represented private equity fund in its acquisition and financing of a public REIT with assets of $1.7 billion, the termination of such REIT status and conversion of corporate subsidiaries to pass-through entities, resulting in the transfer of the beneficial ownership of approximately 60 multi-family projects and related management and development companies located throughout the United States, reportedly the largest "de-REIT-ization" at the time.
Represented institutional developer in the site acquisition, development and disposition of a Class A office building complex in Dallas, Texas, including the lease of approximately 500,000 square feet of space in one of the largest lease transactions in Dallas of that year and the subsequent lease settlement and work out of the insolvent tenant as part of its bankruptcy proceedings.
Represented national hotel owner with approximately $300 million mortgage financing of Dallas property.
Represented national lender in connection with the work out financing and re-organization of national restaurant operator.
Represented the City of Dallas in connection with Section 108 HUD financing development and rehabilitation of multifamily high rise project in Dallas and similar developments.
Represented national financial institutions in connection with in excess of $1 billion mortgage lending transactions.
Represented institutional developer in connection with $40 million APUC development of 1.5 million square foot warehouse facility.
Represented national merchant developer in the preparation and negotiation of construction contracts throughout the United States.
Represented one of the nation's largest multi-family developers in the acquisition, development and disposition of apartment and condominium projects throughout the United States.
